Multiple Surgical Treatments for Recurrent Retroperitoneal Hemorrhage in a COVID-19 Patient with Respiratory Failure on Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation

چکیده
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) may be required in patients with corona virus disease-19 (COVID-19) and respiratory failure. Anticoagulation is the standard treatment to prevent complications of ECMO COVID-19 coagulopathy, however, there a risk bleeding. Some retroperitoneal hemorrhage (RPH) have been treated angiography-embolization. We report on patient who underwent multiple operations (×5) for recurrent RPH. A 46-year-old man was admitted pneumonia. anticoagulation therapy initiated. The developed RPH, caused by external compression inferior vena cava interrupting inflow, surgical hematoma evacuation performed, no obvious bleeding focus during surgeries. Following patient’s recovery, follow-up computed tomography scan showed had resolved, but dilemma regarding anticoagulation. Lowering threshold treatment, enabled serious

Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation for Neonatal Respiratory Failure
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a form of cardiopulmonary bypass adapted for long-term use. Blood is drained from the patient, pumped through an artificial lung or membrane where gas exchange is augmented, and then re-infused back to the patient. ECMO provides support for the neonate with severe respiratory failure so that potentially deleterious ventilator settings can be minimiz...

OBJECTIVES To review the first 50 patients to receive extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for respiratory failure at Glenfield Hospital, and to compare them with published series of patients receiving positive pressure ventilation. DESIGN Retrospective chart review. SETTING Extracorporeal Life Support Organization/European Extracorporeal Life Support Organization recognized ECMO cent...
متن کامل[Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation in neonatal respiratory failure].
Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) has been used for 20 years in neonates and children with cardiac and respiratory failure. The number of neonates treated with ECMO has increased exponentially, but the number of older children treated is small. The selection and exclusion criteria for pediatric ECMO are poorly defined, and the results vary because of variable selection criteria and ins...

OBJECTIVE Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is used to support children with respiratory failure. When extracorporeal membrane oxygenation duration is prolonged, decisions regarding ongoing support are difficult as a result of limited prognostic data. DESIGN Retrospective case series. SETTING Multi-institutional data reported to the Extracorporeal Life Support Organization Registry. PAT...
متن کاملExtracorporeal membrane oxygenation for severe respiratory failure in newborn infants.
BACKGROUND Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a complex procedure of life support in severe but potentially reversible respiratory failure, used particularly in mature newborn infants. Although the number of babies requiring ECMO is small, and the ECMO policy invasive and potentially expensive, its benefits may be high. OBJECTIVES To determine whether ECMO used for neonatal infants...
